Sunday Swim

Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:

Thankfully the water was six degrees warmer than the 13 degree air on this fine, smoke-free and sunny morning. In spite of this, the ten of us (five in wetsuits and five naked) continued our klatch at Juniper Beach strategically waiting for the breeze and the mild chop to abate before we set off. It worked quite well and the water was glassy once we ventured past the Point into Cosens Bay. Three of us, Cindy, John and I, took advantage of the beautiful conditions to swim to Dog Beach and back while most of the rest stopped at the Painted Rocks.

All the while Robynne and Kylie were watching over us from the trails on the peninsula. Kylie had come to swim but, after extensive pleading from Robynne, let her back off her knees and decided to join her on the trails. The other side of the story had Kylie on her knees asking Robynne if she wanted company, please please.

While we had a smooth swim on the way out, the breeze and chop returned for our final leg back to the beach. Most of the group waited for the final three of us to get back before heading up the trail.

With tomorrow being Labour Day which we celebrate by doing no labour, we are swimming again at 8:00 from Juniper Beach. The conditions should be just as nice with a slightly warmer air temperature forecast. Hope to see several of you getting your last few lake swims in before we are consigned to black line swimming.
