Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:

As the five of us entered the 22 degree water on a warm, calm afternoon, we couldn't help but notice the change in Kylie now that she has a successful channel swim behind her.

Kylie in England:

    "More Jellyfish? Bring 'em on!

18 degree water? This is balmy!

Big waves? I can do this for hours!

Salt water? Just give me some mouthwash!

Dark skies? I'm used to this!"

Kylie at Juniper Beach yesterday:

    "This water feels cold!

I'm not ready to start yet!

    There are too many boats!"

Kylie as we saunter back up to the parking lot:

    "This trail is so steep!

    The walk back is hard!"

One would swear that Kylie has become almost as proficient at whinin' and snivelin' as I am!

We did have a pleasant swim that became more challenging at the Point where the wind picked up substantially.  Wetsuit-clad Darin and fin-clad Cindy both decided to go back (which the rest of us were fine with as they were swimming too fast anyways) while Kylie, Dana and I continued out to the corner. We turned back from there as the waves were now picking up as well. We got back to the Beach just as whitecaps were cropping up everywhere. Good thing that Kylie didn't delay us even longer waiting for the boats to go away!

On another note, the BC 55+ Games are in Kamloops next week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Sessions start at 8am and finish around noon. They are desperately short of IT's on each of the three days. If you are a qualified IT and can help out even for one morning next week, please let me know. Officiating this meet is a lot of fun with nothing but older Masters.

In the meantime, we will do this again on Thursday at 5:30pm, rain or shine, snivelin' or no snivelin'.

Cheers,

Mike (aka Chief Whiner and Sniveler)
