Wondering Where did the Boats Had Come From

Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:

It was an idyllic evening that just three of us took advantage. The Beach was quiet, the air was warm and the water was like glass with few boats in sight. Only the hint of some smoke lingered, giving us the excuse to do a lazy swim to the Point and back. The water temperature was 23 degrees although it felt a bit cooler to us. Darin almost expressed regret at leaving his wetsuit at home. Even Kylie thought it was quite cool. While the attached picture from Alison was taken two days earlier, the scene was very similar yesterday.

The swim to the Point felt great and we only had to deal with boat wash once while we were nearing the Point. After enjoying the surroundings for some time while we chatted, we headed back through some lingering boat wash. As we continued on towards the beach, the boat wash seemed to strengthen and then became continuous. I did not look but it seemed like an endless parade of boats behind me.

Only after reaching the beach did I look back and realize that it was the wind that had picked up and that whitecaps were beginning to form on the lake. At least the waves were following us and we could surf them occasionally.

After the predicted rain tomorrow I hope several of you will be able to swim on Sunday morning at 8:00. Hopefully the smoke will have been knocked down with the rain from the preceding day.

Cheers,

Mike
