Hello All,
We had 4 swimmers who braved the smoke tonight... and the many boat wakes... and the threat of ice cream!
As we prepared to brave the water that was quite warm, but noticeably cooler as we went around the point, the ice cream boat appeared out of the haze. I wanted to stop for an ice cream, but lack of cash and the calmer voices of the other 3 swimmers prevented me from enjoying a cold treat before our swim. (Please note that I am currently eating ice cream as I type this!)
The water alternated between glassy calm water that begged for us to practice our fingertip drills and absolutely massive boat waves, but luckily the boats gave us room...except for the ice cream boat that pulled out and turned around exactly when we started swimming--as if to complain that I didn't purchase anything from him...but he also gave us lots of room.
Two of us turned at the point after a leisurely swim out and two went out as far as the next corner. It was a lovely swim, but the smoke is definitely worse than I would like on a swimming evening. Fingers crossed for good air quality on Sunday! Keep checking your emails from Mike as we decide if we can enjoy the post-swim crepes on Sunday or if we should postpone due to air quality.
