Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:

The Thermometer went missing until a parent retrieved it from some kids swimming, after we had been searching for 10 minutes.

Swimmers were also missing! We had only three of us at Juniper Beach at 5:30 today. Josiane was there for her first swim of the summer while Olivia was there for her last swim before her 10K Kal Swim on Saturday, after which she will move to Calgary. They joined me on a pleasantly warm night in calm 24 degree water, marred only by persistent boat wash on the way out to the Painted Rocks. Olivia chose to return from the Point not wanting to overdo it prior to Saturday's long race. Between the three of us, there was no rubber in sight. Josiane and I had to run a gauntlet of jumpers on the Cosens Bay side but were rewarded with calm water on the return. Even though we purposely swam right by the boats (without crashing), nobody offered us any beer. Boaters these days!

Monty and Danica had gone earlier and were already out of the water by 5:15. Sandy and her husband left the beach at about 6:15 so that we crossed paths for a brief chat on the way back to the beach.

The weather will be rainy tomorrow when few of us are swimming (perfect). It will be somewhat better on Saturday for the ATLS Kal Lake Swim. We have at least two from this group doing the 10K swim and others doing the 4.5K and 1.5K swims. The routes for the shorter swims will be different this year. For those of you competing on Saturday, I hope you all have great swims.

With the expected sunshine on Sunday morning, I look forward to finding all of the missing swimmers!

See you all at 8:00 on Sunday morning.

Cheers,

Mike
