BC Day celebrations

Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:

All of the thunderstorm threats had disappeared, and sunny skies greeted the eleven swimmers and two paddlers at Juniper Beach this morning. Nine swimmers were in the water when lo and behold, we noted that Kurt had got it up, his courage that is, and, along with his buddy Aaron, was actually joining us in the lake! What will we see next now that he's into his second half of a century, maybe a night swim?

The rest of us naturally waited for them to get into the water and see them start swimming with us (trust but verify). We met at the Point where Kurt and Aaron decided that they had had enough and turned back along with John H.  Six of us were content to stop at the Painted Rocks for an extended gab session in the glassy water. Gary and John M carried on to Gary's log or thereabouts. We returned to the Point for another extended gab session. Robynne, who was paddling for Olivia to help her prep for her Kal Lake swim two weeks from now, kept insisting that they were talking strategy. (Who's the liar now?)

We got back to Juniper Beach realizing that it had taken us almost an hour to swim a mere 2k. Regardless, it was still one of the best possible ways to spend an hour on a sunny Monday morning!

Hope that storms continue to bypass us for our next swims, starting with Tuesday afternoon at 5:30.

Cheers,

Mike
