Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:
It was hot and humid tonight as ten of us set out for the Point in choppy 24 degree water. After fighting waves and steering clear of boats and waverunners, we met at the Point where Cayleigh and I were content to go back to the Beach. I pointed out that the water to the corner just had minor ripples and, with the wind coming from Kal Beach, it should be fairly smooth to the Painted Rocks. With that, the other eight swimmers took off into Cosens Bay.
Sean and Tim arrived at the Painted Rocks first, looked at each other and said "Mike Lied!". Shortly after came Darin, whose first words were "Mike Lied!", soon followed by David who also expressed doubts about my veracity. Then came Carole, Kylie and Olivia who each said "Mike Lied!" immediately upon their arrival. Right after that Phred came in shouting "Mike's an Ephphin' Liar!". Never in the annals of Kal Lake swimming had there been such a congruence of opinions!
When they arrived back to the beach to share the contents of their conversations with me they all proclaimed that they had to swim directly into the waves both ways! I was overwhelmed with heartfelt sympathy!
After a tearful walk back to the parking lot we all agreed that we would be back for our 8:00am swim on Sunday.
With the holiday weekend we will do another swim at 8:00 am on Monday.
No Foolin'
Mike
