Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:
Nine of us took advantage of the lovely conditions Tuesday afternoon. Despite 24 degree water at the beach, four wore wuss-suits while two others wore "Phloatie pants". One had paddles and one had a snorkel. Only one was truly naked (Note 1). For various reasons, three turned back at the Point while the rest carried on into Cosens Bay. Some were still savouring the completion of the 76th annual Across The Lake Swim this past Saturday.
Congratulations to all of you who completed either the 1.5 or the 2.1 distance. The photos above show Sean, Megan and Gary getting their "woodals" for winning and placing in their age groups for the 2.1k swim. While he was in a very tough age group that left him out of the woodals, Darin was still fast enough to finish among the top 2% overall.
Also, due to an apparent aversion to buses, Phred was part of a contingent of swimmers who swam over to the far side of the lake as a warmup before the swim.
The Kal Lake swim will take place on Saturday, August 16th. you can choose from 1.5k, 4.5k or 10k distances. Registration is still open. On Saturday, August 9th, Phred and I will be doing an open water swim clinic at Kal beach. Details will follow.
Hope to see you at our next lake swim at Juniper Beach on Thursday at 5:30pm.
Cheers,
Mike
