Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:
We once again had 25 swimmers many of whom were decked out in Canada Day regalia for our memorial swim for Craig this morning. And we once again had glorious conditions with calm 19 degree waters. The first picture shows most of us getting ready after bringing/wearing our Canadiana, except for John who arrived right at 8:00 when the rest of us were already in the water (see second picture). This time we all left together (except for John). Actually, once we got going, there were so many swimmers churning up the water it didn't seem calm anymore!
After rendezvousing at the Point to let everyone catch up, we carried on to Painted Rocks. There, after some touch-ups from Phred while doing special yoga stretches on the cliff-face, we all posed for the third photo below the rock face dedication to Craig. While it is a bit hard to see in the morning sun in the photo, it reads "RIP CRAIG Your Legacy Swims On". This will leave a permanent reminder for us every time we swim out to this spot (which is pretty often for some). I hope that each one of you gets a chance to swim out to this spot at least once over the summer in Craig's memory. The email sent from Judie is attached.
While a few went on further to Dog Beach, the majority of us swam back to the park where we had some cherries. Special thanks to Robynne for the photos, especially the third one where she was treading in deep water with her phone.
I look forward to seeing many of you again on Thursday at 5:30pm.
Cheers,
Mike
