Mid-September Like Mid-Summer

Hello Kal Lake Swimmers:

The three wuss-suited swimmers were already sweltering in the 29.5 degree heat before getting into the 23 degree water with the other four of us. There followed a thoroughly enjoyable swim out to the Painted Rocks for all of us, including Monty . Thankfully the waverunners remained in Jade Bay and the jumpers made sure they stayed clear. This was important as we were close to the cliffs, especially Tim, who practically claws his way along the rocks Gollum-like. We also had Emily, her daughter and John hit the waves a short time after us.

There have been few evenings this summer where we've had such calm waters on both sides of the peninsula. It reminded me of the old song:

It might be a cloudy day for our next swim on Sunday at 8:00. Regardless, the water should still be above 20 degrees, much warmer than usual for mid-September.

Last night was our final evening lake swim (except for the Night Swim) as there are Masters swims at 8:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, there may be a few people who want to swim at that time. I suggest that you reach out using the email list if you are keen and looking for swimming partners. I personally advise against swimming in Cosens Bay on your own due to its relative remoteness.

See you on Sunday, at the pool, and/or at the Night Swim!

Cheers,

Mike
